Couple has a garage sale to raise $$ to move from Mississippi to Louisiana

... only one problem, police say Jerry and Teresa Dyess of Natchez, MS were living in a fully furnished rental home and didn't own any of the junk they sold.  Apparently, the owner of the home got suspicious when he noticed that the house was empty and alerted the law.  Police nabbed Teresa when she was stopped for a traffic violation and snatched Jerry when he went in to bail her out.  [Sun Herald]

Mississippi Student Possessed by "The Devil"

Pelahatchie High School students claim that their classmate, Lashundra Clanton, is possessed by the devil.  Apparently, Clanton came to school speaking in a deep voice and sometimes speaking in tongues.  "It was disturbing to a lot of students," Pelahatchie sophomore Rob Sparks said.  "Some have not returned yet."  However, Clanton's mother believes it is God speaking through her daughter, trying to help students.  Students brought bibles and crosses, and even held a devotional for Lashundra.  Even around town, especially in churches, people are debating if it is God or the Devil speaking through Clanton, and what to do about it.  I'll solve it for you folks...you're dealing with the possessed spirit of a teenage girl looking for attention.  Who hasn't said that they were possessed by the dark lord to get out of a few days of school?  Also, Lashundra says God has not spoken through her since Wedsnday.  [Jackson News]

Mom wanted for helping daughter assault classmate

Regayla Cunningham-Woods, the mother of 17-year-old Shakara Davis, is wanted on a felony aggravated assault charge, a charge her daughter already faces. Shakara apparently stabbed fellow Moss Point High (Mississippi) student Zachariah "Zai" Stennis, 18.  It seems that police think Regayla participated in the fight that took place near campus after school by hitting Zachariah with a jack in the face and head."  Holy smokes.  Try to say those names three times fast.  Like mother, like daughter though, huh?  [Sun Herald]

"Crack kits" sold at Mississippi convenience stores

Raids at four Gulfport, MS convenience stores turned up a bunch of "crack kits" containing all that's needed to smoke crack except for the crack.  The crack kits contained glass tubes with roses (a nice touch) and glass ink pens sold in a bag with a copper scrubbing pad and cigarette lighter and sold for about $3.  Also seized were nearly 1 million small bags that are used to package cocaine for sale. "The outside of the box calls them jewelry bags," the police said, "but no jewelry was to be found."   Crazy.  [Sun Herald]
