Yoichi Shimamoto got drunk on a flight from Japan to San Francisco... so drunk that he smacked up his wife as they went through customs. Is Yoichi sorry? Nope! He's suing United Airlines, claiming that they should have been aware that over-serving him red wine would have "negative consequences." Oh, Yo-yo and his battered wife want United to pick up the $100,000 tab for Yo-yo's bail, defense and immigration attorneys' fees, as well as the costs they incurred to have his probationary sentence transferred to Florida, where his wife had a home.... and they want cash dollars for pain, suffering, loss of income and "any other relief that is just and proper." Sounds like Yo-yo has adapted to the American custom of abdication of responsibility quite nicely. [Chicago Tribune]
