Couple gets his and hers assault charges for Christmas
It seems that Heath Blom, 26, and Randi Young, 24, of Portsmouth, RI "had a bad Christmas." The two got into a fight on Christmas when Heath opened a present from Randi containing a Wii instead of the remote control airplane he asked for... she got up and tried to leave, he grabbed her, she smacked him, the police came and arrested them both. Instant Karma: Man dies trying to steal a flat screen TV
East Providence, RI. Police found the guy next to a rock in front of an apartment building. They say he apparently tried to swipe a TV from the lobby, and conked from natural causes while going to get his car. Those flat screens are HEAVY. Definitely a two man job. [East Bay RI.com]

Idiot with cigarette sets off fireworks in car... and lives
A 28-year-old Rhode Island man faces charges after the cigarette he was smoking inside a car apparently ignited fireworks near his feet. Witnesses told police they saw a passenger tossing fireworks out shortly before police arrived. Why wasn't this guy killed? Seriously. Not even injured. You know he's gonna reproduce and doom us all. Homeless man charged with stealing a 75 cent newspaper
Glenn Saren, 46, of the Cross Roads House homeless shelter in Rhode Island got busted for stealing a copy of the Portsmouth Herald newspaper. He is free on $500 personal recognizance bail and under court orders not to return to the mall. He should have stayed in jail... they probably have cable TV. [seacoastonline.com]
